Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, when the six million Jews who were murdered are remembered. But the Holocaust did not start with the death camps. It started years before. It started with antisemitic talk which became mainstream, leading to boycotts and attacks on Jews, and eventually the Holocaust. Talk is not harmless. Today it is happening again. With the Corona virus pandemic, antisemitism has increased, with some people and Middle Eastern governments blaming Jews for the pandemic and its consequences. This is not harmless, as history shows, because it grows and grows until talk becomes action. All it takes is for good people to turn a blind eye to it. Like they did in the 1930s.
